GLASGOW, Ky. — Barren County magistrates are expected to consider several agreements and renaming a road, among other items, during their regular meeting Tuesday morning.

Among the items on the agenda are maintenance agreements with Lyons Mechanical Services for county-owned buildings.

The company has submitted proposals to provide routine maintenance for the Barren County Government Building and the Barren County Development Center, with a third agreement also listed for approval but not included with the other maintenance documents.

For the government building, the proposed agreement totals $22,590 for the first year and $23,041.80 for the second year. The contract includes routine testing, inspections and preventative maintenance.

The proposed agreement for the Barren County Development Center, which houses offices including the health department, planning commission and property valuation administrator, totals $5,850 for the first year and $5,967 for the second year.

The agreement also includes testing, inspections and maintenance.

Magistrates are also expected to consider renaming Phelps Road to Huddleston Road after four of the road’s five property owners submitted a petition requesting the change.

Under Kentucky law, a county may rename a road when at least 50% of the property owners along it support the change through a petition.

Phelps Road is a gravel road that intersects with Winn School Road near the Haywood community.

Magistrates are also scheduled to approve a construction manager for the agricultural exposition center in Cave City, consider an agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for approximately $775,000 in road projects, and address other routine county business.

The meeting begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday via Zoom. Meetings are generally held in person but officials said this one would be online.
