GLASGOW, Ky. — The Barren County School District has named Michael Davis as its new assistant superintendent, according to a district announcement Tuesday.

Davis has served in Barren County Schools since 2006, holding a range of roles including teacher at Eastern Elementary, assistant principal at Barren County Middle School, principal at Red Cross Elementary, principal at Barren County Middle School and Director of Elementary Instruction.

Superintendent Amy Irwin said Davis brings both experience and a strong commitment to the district.

“Michael cares deeply about this district and the people who make it special,” Irwin said.

She added that he “builds strong relationships and always keeps students at the center of his work,” and said the district is “excited to continue building on the great things happening across Barren County Schools with Michael serving in this role.”

Davis is a graduate of Barren County High School, Class of 2001, and earned his bachelor’s degree in Exceptional Education from Western Kentucky University in 2006. He later earned a master’s degree in school administration from Western Kentucky University in 2012 and completed Rank I Supervisor of Instruction and superintendent certification through the University of the Cumberlands.

Davis said he is “incredibly grateful and honored for the opportunity to serve as Assistant Superintendent for Barren County Schools.”

He said serving the district “is something I value greatly” and added that he looks forward to working with schools, families and the community “as we continue striving for excellence.”

Davis also said Superintendent Amy Irwin “has a strong vision for our district” and noted that her leadership “continues to move Barren County Schools forward in meaningful ways.”

He said he is “excited to support that work as we help all students become life-ready.”
