GLASGOW, Ky. — Park City Elementary School will have a familiar face at the helm this year, as longtime educator Ben Jackson has been named the school’s next principal.

The Park City Elementary School Site-Based Decision Making Council selected Jackson for the role, according to Barren County Schools.

Jackson brings more than two decades of experience at Park City Elementary, where he has served as a classroom teacher, math intervention teacher, lead teacher and most recently instructional coach.

Throughout his career, he has worked closely with students, families and staff while supporting instructional improvement and student achievement across the school, according to Barren County Schools.

A graduate of Western Kentucky University, Jackson holds master’s degrees and principal certification from the University of the Cumberlands.

He has been recognized for his work in education, including being named Barren County Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year and Park City Elementary Teacher of the Year.

Superintendent Amy Irwin said Jackson’s long history with the school makes him well suited for the position.

“Ben understands what makes Park City special because he has spent his career serving its students, families and staff,” Irwin said. “He is a relationship-focused leader who cares deeply about children and believes in helping every student succeed. I am excited to see him lead the school into its next chapter.”

Jackson said he is grateful for the opportunity to return to the role of principal at a school where he has spent much of his career.

“During the last 22 years, I have worked alongside staff and parents to help educate students who have walked through these halls,” he said. “I was in the last eighth-grade class to attend this school before Barren County Middle School opened, and I always regarded my years at Park City as my favorite years as a student.”

As he steps into the role, Jackson said he plans to continue working closely with students, families and staff to ensure Park City remains a place where every child can succeed.

“My goal as principal will be to work hard to make Park City a special place for all students who attend our school,” Jackson said.
