CAVE CITY, Ky. — Local organizers are joining a nationwide day of protest Saturday to oppose data center development.

According to a flyer shared on social media, the Cave City protest will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, rain or shine, as part of a National Day of Protest taking place in more than 50 cities on July 18.

Organizers are encouraging Cave City and Barren County residents to participate by walking the designated route or setting up chairs along the route in support.

Participants are also encouraged to make signs and wear protest shirts, according to the flyer.

The flyer also references a petition supporting Cave City and Mammoth Cave.

Earlier this week, Sheila Hatcher told attendees at a countywide zoning town hall that the petition had collected more than 840 signatures.

The planned walking route will follow Sanders Street to Gaunce Drive, then continue onto Mammoth Cave Street and Happy Valley Street.
