Despite the pause on formal consideration, the city still does not have zoning regulations in place that would fully prevent a data center project from advancing.
The company said its “only goal is to help ensure that the process remains impartial and free from any concerns that could later call the validity or fairness of the proceedings into question.”
Cave City currently does not have zoning regulations specifically tailored to data centers, though a vote on new language is expected at a May 11 council meeting at 5 p.m.
Unlike Cave City and other cities in the county, Barren County does not have countywide planning and zoning, a gap officials have pointed to before.
