GLASGOW, Ky. — A local landmark known for preserving the history of the Barrens region will host a day of historical programming July 11, featuring three regional historians.

“Celebrate the Barrens” will highlight the Revolutionary West, the early American frontier and the formation of Kentucky, according to organizers.

The Barrens region includes Allen, Barren, Metcalfe, Monroe and Hart counties.

Featured speakers include Dr. Patrick Lewis, president of the Filson Historical Society; Brian Cushing, former program director at Historic Locust Grove; and historian and author Sam Terry, who writes the blog Sam Terry’s Kentucky.

The program will focus on the region’s cultural and historical roots and its role in early American development as part of an American 250 celebration.

Tickets are $25 and include registration and lunch. The event begins at 9 a.m. at 200 W. Water St. in Glasgow. Buy a ticket here.

The program is presented by the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center, the Barren County Historical Society and the Edmund Rogers Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
