PARK CITY, Ky. — A Somerset architectural firm is continuing work on designs for a proposed drive-in theater and amphitheater in northern Barren County, according to Judge/Executive Jamie Byrd.

The Barren County Fiscal Court hired Deco Architects Inc. in March 2025 to oversee the project’s design and prepare bid documents for construction.

Byrd previously said the $271,200 contract would be paid for through a $1 million state allocation and not from Barren County’s budget.

Government leaders have promoted the project as a potential tourism attraction, with the goal of drawing visitors from across the region to one of the area’s few outdoor drive-in theater and amphitheater venues.

Preliminary plans call for a 3,000-seat amphitheater and 200 parking spaces for the drive-in theater. While earlier plans included two screens, the current design calls for a single-screen theater.
