PARK CITY, Ky. — Two members of the Park City Commission have resigned, citing family health concerns, creating vacancies city leaders are expected to fill during Monday night’s commission meeting.

Commissioners Linda Burgess and Mike Burgess submitted their resignations May 26, according to city records obtained by Barrenside, citing personal and family health matters that require their full attention.

“This decision was not made lightly, as I deeply value the responsibilities and trust placed in me by the community,” Mike Burgess said.

The commission is expected to formally accept the resignations before appointing Bonita Martin and Kenneth Winchester to fill the vacant seats.

Martin has agreed to serve through the November general election, while Winchester has filed to run for a commission seat. Scavo said at least one additional candidate is expected to file candidacy papers Monday.

Candidates for Cave City, Park City and school board offices must file by June 2
Those interested in filing for office can contact their local county clerk’s office for additional information.

The departures leave the city with two remaining commissioners, Angelo Scavo and Gary Carroll, alongside Mayor Scavo. She said a quorum exists when two commissioners and the mayor meet, allowing Monday’s meeting to proceed without the Burgesses present.

Following the appointments, the commission is expected to swear in the new members and select a mayor pro tem.

Monday’s agenda also includes consideration of the city’s proposed 2026-27 budget, a lease agreement for the former city hall building and several resolutions related to city business.

A special called meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon to consider the second reading of the budget ordinance.
