GLASGOW, Ky. — Glasgow City Hall has a new city clerk.

Samantha Gibson was appointed to the non-elected position Monday after the Glasgow City Council approved a municipal order authorizing the appointment.

Gibson previously worked in another role at City Hall and stepped into the clerk’s position following Sarah Young’s departure for another job.

Glasgow Mayor Henry Royse said Young accepted a property management position that would allow her to spend more time at home with her family.

Gibson attended the council’s Oct. 26 meeting, sitting toward the back of the room as City Administrator April Russell recorded the meeting minutes, a responsibility typically handled by the city clerk.

Gibson is expected to be sworn into the position Nov. 9, when the City Council is scheduled to hold its next meeting.
