CAVE CITY, Ky. — A community prayer vigil focused on opposition to data centers is planned for Tuesday evening in Cave City.

According to a flyer, the event will be held June 16 at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Cave City Community Building, located at 103 Duke St.

Organizers said “everyone [is] welcome” to attend. The flyer says the event will include “Prayers for our Land & Country against Destruction from Data Centers!”

The vigil follows recent developments in Cave City's data center controversy. The city approved a moratorium in May, and a lawsuit naming Cave City, among others, was filed earlier this month.

No environmental review or impact analysis has been disclosed for the project.

Supporters of data centers often point to their economic development potential, including construction jobs, tax revenue and infrastructure investment.

Opponents have raised concerns about land use, electricity demand, environmental impacts and changes to rural communities.

The flyer encourages residents to “come out & show your support.”
