GLASGOW, Ky. — Plans to renovate Glasgow’s existing movie theater are moving closer to reality, according to businessman Larry Glass.

Glass said a “very productive” meeting was held Tuesday with Kyle Boston of Alliance Corporation and Rick Roman, managing partner of Crowne Pointe Theatre in Elizabethtown.

“At this point, I am very encouraged by what I am seeing,” Glass said.

He said plans and budgets for the project have now been completed. Project leaders are currently reviewing several financial projections before moving forward.

“Most importantly, we finally have the financial numbers needed to make a final decision regarding the future of the project,” Glass said. “We expect this process to be completed one way or another within the next few weeks.”

Glass said he had been awaiting additional financial information before preparing to make an offer on the existing theater property, which is currently owned by West Virginia-based Marquee Cinemas.

“That discussion starts this week,” he said. “But they’re motivated sellers.”

Under current plans, the existing Marquee Cinemas location would be overhauled and updated. If completed, renovations could be finished as soon as spring 2027, according to plans shared with Barrenside.

Planned amenities would include a large lobby with self-serve stations similar to Crowne Pointe Theatre in Elizabethtown, Glass said. The updated facility would also feature reclining seats and the ability for patrons to reserve seats online in advance.

The theater would include seven screens, along with a new party and game room.

Talks continue on potential Glasgow movie theatre upgrade, decision expected by May
The goal is to reach final decisions by late May, with efforts ongoing to move the project forward, according to a social media post from Glass.

Crowne Pointe Theatre’s ownership group is expected to be involved at some level moving forward, though discussions about the ownership structure are still ongoing.

“We appreciate everyone's continued interest and support as we work through this exciting opportunity for our community,” Glass said.
