GLASGOW, Ky. — The Joint City-County Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to meet Monday evening, where a former candidate is expected to address the 13-member board regarding data center development.

According to the meeting agenda, Paula Pedigo has requested time to speak before the Commission.

Pedigo, who most recently ran unsuccessfully for Barren County judge/executive, said in a public social media post that she expects to speak for about two minutes on the issue of data centers.

Pedigo has been a vocal opponent of data center development in the community and has also expressed opposition to a proposed solar farm project in western Barren County.

The Planning Commission is an appointed body that coordinates community-planning efforts and makes recommendations to local legislative units, according to its website.

The Planning Commission, along with Cave City, is named in a recent lawsuit filed by a landowner involved in a proposed data center development.

Court fight begins over Cave City data center moratorium
The dispute stems from a series of zoning discussions this spring over how data centers should be regulated within city limits.

In other business, the commission is expected to consider a zone change application filed by Houchens Center for Children, Inc., the entity that owns the property occupied by the Boys & Girls Club.

The requested zoning change would allow for the construction of a new sports and recreational facility and will require a public hearing.

The commission is also scheduled to review a preconstruction variance request and an agricultural division of real estate application.

The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Glasgow City Council Chambers.
